The Hamasniks’ Choice
For hard core Jew haters, there’s no doubt who is the "Benefit" to their cause and who is the "Harm".
The war against Israel has a local angle for those of us who live within the penumbra of King County. One of the most repellent local politicians, Kshama Sawant, who infested the Seattle City Council for ten years, campaigned last weekend in Michigan for Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Her pitch might sound unusual if you aren’t conversant with blue-on-blue autophagy. Danny Westneat, a Seattle Times columnist who is by that fish wrapper’s standards a moderate, quotes the key lines:
We need to be clear about what our goals are. We are not in a position to win the White House, but we do have a real opportunity to win something historic, we could deny Kamala Harris the state of Michigan. And the polls show that most likely Harris cannot win the election without Michigan.
Mr. Westneat discerns in that rhetoric nothing beyond political arson. “She’s about burning down the village, but first starting the fire at the house closest to her own, the Democrats.” That would, of course, be in character for a disciple of Lenin, for whom there can be no friends on the Left, only acolytes or enemies.
Nominally, Sawant has taken up the banner Hamas. The vehicle for her politicking, a quasi-party called “Workers Strike Back”, is holding a Stein rally in Seattle later this month. Its announcement of the event sounds loud and strident:
Organize to end the genocide! Oppose both Harris and Trump who are vying to become the Warmonger-in-Chief, and build the antiwar movement by building largest possible vote for antiwar Presidential candidate Jill Stein!
The rant is doubtless sincere. The alliance between progressives and Jews was an historical accident resting on a bedrock of illusions. It was bound to crumble. Nonetheless, while progressives can readily accommodate Jew hatred, it isn’t their main passion. The venom of a figure like Sawant against Kamala Harris is no evidence that Kamala is a friend of the Jews. To get an accurate reading, one should turn to the men who carry the antisemitic genes in their ideological DNA. Mr. Westneat helpfully reports their perspective:
The same day, a group of 26 imams and Muslim leaders – people with much more at personal stake in the war – endorsed Harris. In their letter, they gave an alternative view – that purity has no place in adult politics.
“It’s not the lesser of two evils,” they wrote. “For us, as people of faith, specifically as Muslims, it’s the measure or estimate of the Harm and the Benefit. When faced with a choice, we are expected to carefully assess the potential benefits and harm involved, prioritizing actions that bring better, and minimize negative, consequences.”
They cut to the chase: “Knowingly enabling someone like Donald Trump to return to office, whether by voting directly for him or for a third-party candidate, is both a moral and a strategic failure.” [links in original]
The imams’ statement praises the Vice President for being on the cutting edge of pro-terrorist opinion within the Biden Administration:
She was the first in the Administration to demand a ceasefire and she spoke about the devastating loss of life in Gaza and the unfolding humanitarian crisis. Just two months ago, when she met with Prime Minister Netanyahu, she held a press conference afterward and was clear as to her dismay with him and said she would not be silent about the suffering in Gaza. She has spoken with Palestinian Americans returning from Gaza, she has spoken with Palestinian Americans who have lost family in Gaza, she has met with doctors returning from medical missions in Gaza. She is a committed ceasefire candidate too and is the best option for ending the bloodshed in Gaza and now Lebanon.
It is unlikely that the imams care much about the issues that have agitated Sawant throughout her career. Do they want to nationalize Microsoft and Boeing? I doubt it. What they do care about is making the Middle East Judenrein. Kamala is their choice for President. Draw your own conclusions.
